we live in an age of exponentially increasing alienation and dispossession. social networks have reversed their alleged mission to connect us more, instead only further disintegrating our social fabric. corporate media has devalued and defanged the revolutionary potential of art. the screen tells us what to like, what to wear, what to love, and what the screen doesn’t show and tell us is invalidated.
we don't need new social networks. we need appreciation networks that combat alienation and commodification with belonging and original storytelling. the moment calls for revolution; not a coup d’etat, or state takeover, but a coupe du monde - world takeover - the cultural uprising in and of everyday life that future modern vanguards.
future modern seeks to redistribute human and financial capital from concentrated powers to dynamic grassroots communities, doing our part to construct a world where community integrates with life, art, appreciation, and passion. we begin with the cultural and creative industries that portend social change, to eventually expand into more essential industries.
